Capital Prep PTO Scholarship

Purpose:

The purpose of this scholarship is to support the continuing education of a Capital Preparatory Magnet School graduating senior.

Eligibility:

• The recipient must be a graduating member of the Class of 2014 and enrolled in (or enroll no later than the fall of 2014) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education

• Academic ability is not a consideration.

• Submission of any form of essay or media described below in procedure to apply.

Selection:

Selection is based on the above eligibility and content of the essay or media presentation. It is the decision of the PTO committee whether or not an applicant is deserving. The decision of the PTO committee is final.

Procedure to apply:

1. The candidate must complete the “Capital Prep PTO Scholarship Application” form.
2. The candidate must complete an essay or a media presentation describing how the five learner expectations have impacted your life. Specifically we are looking for the candidate to answer one or more of the following three questions:
• How have you overcome a particular challenge by using the five learner expectations to help you individually, within your family or peer group?
• How have you shown the ability to use the five learner expectations during your high school career?
• How have you been involved and shown leadership in using the five learner expectations and use among fellow students?

• Any form of media will be considered in the selection process: written essay, photography, technology, art, or music.

• If you are submitting an essay, you may do so electronically: Essay Submissions by deadline.
• If you are submitting a non-electronic response, complete this form, print and attach to your submission. Package your submission and deliver to the PTO Mailbox in the C-Prep Main Office by deadline.

Notification and payment:

A check will be awarded to the recipient around graduation. An alternate will be chosen in the event that the principal recipient does not continue to meet eligibility.

Amount - $500.00, one-time, non-renewable.

Deadline: 

Applications are due to electronically or to the PTO mailbox in the C-Prep Main Office on or before Thursday, May 1, 2014 by 4 PM.
