The PTO has kicked off the C-Prep Cares Room/Grade Parent Network. These parent volunteers provide an invaluable service to the Capital Preparatory Magnet School and with your help will continue to make school an awesome experience for our children.
In addition to coordinating class events at the direction of the grade teachers, the C-Prep Cares Parent will work with you to provide a variety of volunteer experiences to choose from: there will be big roles and tiny ones, in class and at home help needed. Thanks for your help and participation!

There are some classes that still do not have room/grade parents - consider volunteering: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4FABAF22A1FE3-20132014.

Voices of C-Prep Graduates

The graduating class of 2013 offers parting reflections about their experience at Capital Preparatory Magnet School:

Capital Prep has taught me to better manage my time & take responsibility for my actions. I have developed my writing skills by writing extensive papers.  I have the skills to be successful in the real world.
- AJ

I have found myself in my four years here at Capital Prep. The school has made me into the man I am today.  I have learned to push through difficult times even when I wanted to give up. This place has changed me for the better.  This has been an unforgettable experience that will remain with me the rest of my life.
- Antwan

I have grown as a person and a leader in my five years here at Capital Prep.  I now realize my potential as a student & person.  I am more mature & independent. I am more responsible because of the work I put in with my SJP.
- Ashley

I have learned five valuable lessons while attending Capital Prep. 1) Collaborating with others in an effective manner. 2) Self-discipline & how to act appropriate in a public setting.  3) Leadership skills in the classroom & on the field. 4) Work hard under pressure & take my work seriously 5) Skills necessary for the real world such as how to communicate with an adult or someone in authority.
- Autym

Capital Prep means hard work & dedication. This place is like another home for me.  I have learned a lot from friends & teachers. I've had a good learning environment & Capital has made me into a better man today.
- Brandon

Capital Prep has taught me how to be a successful, bright and driven young woman.  Throughout my years, I've discovered I have another home and another family.  I know I will be well prepared for college. I've been blessed with amazing opportunities.  I've learned many valuable and useful life lessons.
- Briana

Capital Prep means family to me.  It is a community where you feel free to express your thoughts.  It also provides a great learning experience.  There is access to help if you need it.  I am proud to be a graduate of Capital Prep.
- Brianna

I have learned so much while attending Capital Prep.  The administration, faculty & staff have taught me to work hard and expect my efforts to payoff.  I've learned what I need to become successful and to be responsible for my actions whether they are good or bad.  I would not be where I am today without Capital Prep.
- Christian

Capital Prep has taught me to be more independent.  I have learned to rely on myself to complete my work and to fulfill my dreams outside the classroom. I have a serious initiative to leave this school and complete my future goals successfully.  Capital Prep is a powerful push towards my future path.
- Daijah

Capital Prep means family.  We are a small community and we stick together.  I have changed as a person.  I've learned to appreciate the smaller things in life.  I have gained the skills to become a success since I enrolled in Capital Prep.
- DeQuan

I learned the college application process & got accepted to a 4 year university.  I know how to look professional.  I have better time management skills because of the two sport requirement.  I am following my heart & going to a college of my choice and not what others want for me!
- Destiny

I can honestly say there are many different things that I have learned in my years of attending Capital Prep.  Some may have taken longer than others. The one thing that I treasure the most is the relationships and friendships that I have made over the last couple of years between teachers, advisors and friends.
- Erica

Capital Prep has meant an opportunity. It has opened so many doors for me.  I am prepared for college.  I have made so many friends & I consider this place a second home.
- Franceska

Capital Prep has made me the young woman I am today.  My involvement in YWCC (Young Women Creating Change) and other extra-curricular activities have helped enhance my maturity and much more.  Also, my SJP has made me independent and self-motivated to strive for more than just being "okay". In my seven years here I have met an amazing group of friends & faculty.  These people have made me realize how capable I am of accomplishing anything I put my mind to.
- Francine

Capital Prep has been a positive experience because it has taught me a lot. It has also been a good experience to meet different types of people.
- Gabrielle

Capital Prep means prosperity to me.  You will be faced with many trials & tribulations but you will make it through if you are dedicated and have faith. Capital Prep has put me through plenty of good & bad times but in the end you will be happy you did it.  This school proves that the end does justify the means.
- Hugh

Capital Prep has taught me how to be a leader and how to be independent. Capital Prep means family to me and we are one. I have learned how to manage my time. There are so many people here to help me.  Everyone shows love.
- Imani

I have explored new things while attending Capital Prep.  I have learned to try various sports and engage in different friendships with people from different cultures, heritage & ethnic backgrounds. I transferred from a public high school that housed several hundred kids to a closer knit group of students.  I have also learned the true meaning of family.  I have gained close friends that went through several long seasons of sports from the classroom to just hanging out on the weekends.  I have transformed into the strong individual I am today. Thank You Capital Prep!
- Janai

Capital Prep means a warm, safe & welcoming place.  You are encouraged to manage your time because of sports and the SJP.  I have met a lot of great people here that I know I'll be friends with for a lifetime.  I have learned how to be a leader and be independent.  I have really matured!
- Jhashanae

During my time at Capital Prep, I've learned that it okay to different, hardworking & weird.  It is okay to be yourself, a learner, an observer, and be wrong.  I also learned that when you’re surrounded by people that look up to you and that support you, it is important you put forth an effort to be successful. This effort makes them proud to say they know you.
- Kahlil

I have learned how to be an information processor, knowledgeable person, collaborator & an empathetic citizen.  I have also learned to manage my time, handle my workload & communicate my thoughts.
- Karlee

Capital Prep has taught me how to be independent, a leader & an agent of change as well as a scholar.  The staff & students here are family members to me.  I have learned to network & work with others outside my community.  I was able to be a student-athlete with the rigor of academic as well as the two sport requirement.  I have built tremendous relationship that will last a lifetime.
- Kim

Capital Prep has taught me discipline & perseverance.  I understand the importance of accomplishing a goal by enduring the hard work it takes to get there.  At times, it seems the work is too tedious and you're too overloaded but having the discipline to stay focused will ultimately get you through.  Each bad or negative outcome strengthens you in a sense because it helps you view the situation from a different perspective.  I am told that college & life in general will be difficult, so therefore a stable mindset and strong will are the best tools to help face these issues.
- Kristi

I have been a student at Capital Prep since the sixth grade. Since my arrival, this place has been a home away from home. I have been provided countless opportunities to grow as a person & I am grateful.  I appreciate the people who have helped me & the journey that I have been through.  I like the person I have become since I arrived.
- Luis

Capital Prep has been a great experience.  Transferring here was a huge transition however I felt at home.  Everyone expects you to succeed & no one is ever left behind.  If I needed help someone was there every single time.  I learned to manage my time and never sell myself short.  I will follow my dreams and shoot for the stars! Thank You Capital Prep!
- Natalie

Capital Prep has taught me how to manage my time and how to manage a big work load.  This school is a second family.  My advisor, Ms. Perry is like a second mother because I am able to talk to everyone and feel comfortable.  My Senior Social Justice project has helped me decide my major: Sociology
- Naureen

I have been taught the importance of being self-reliant.  I have become better at managing my time & have become an excellent collaborator. At a young age, I am learning to work with people; it is an essential life skill.  As an empathetic citizen I have been taught to get involved in finding a solution.  I have also learned to take responsibility for my actions.
- Sandra

Capital Prep has taught me independence and accountability. I have learned to take charge of my education and future because I am the only one responsible for both.  I most appreciate the close-knit community of staff who are dedicated to helping me succeed.
- Shadai

Capital Prep has taught me to be an independent leader. I've had multiple opportunities & it was up to me to control my fate while learning to be the best student I could be. Without Capital Prep, I would be the shy girl in the cornet of the class who wouldn't say anything.  I'm a more social, outgoing & intelligent young woman.
- Shamrita

I started my journey here at Capital Prep four years ago.  The first day I walked through those doors I knew the road wouldn’t be easy.  I have learned independence, discipline & time management. I collaborate & problem solve with my peers.  Although my experience was tough, it was also enjoyable. The memories I've made will stay with me forever.
- Shannen

I have learned to manage my time efficiency along with becoming a better problem solver.  Overall, I have learned things about myself that I never thought I would have at any public school.
- Steven

Capital Prep has taught me about time management. I have learned what hard work is and how to challenge myself.  I have become stronger mentally & emotionally. I've learned to be strong, confident young woman.  I need to believe in myself & prove everyone who has doubt, wrong.
- Vae

Capital Prep has taught me how to go above and beyond expectations; to reach my goals. I have also learned how to manage my time wisely so I can complete everything I need in order to be successful.  Capital Prep means family to me, no one wants to see anyone down. Everyone wants you to succeed.
