Replication Proposal Rejected, But, Thanks For Being There

We are disappointed that the Hartford board of education rejected two proposed magnet schools and declined to move forward with a plan to turn over management of SAND Elementary School to Capital Prep Schools, Inc. The Capital Prep PTO sincerely appreciated all the families who came out on Tuesday to support the proposal. We demonstrated that we are a community who is ready to offer the promise of a good education to more children. Thank you.

Extra, Extra - Read All About It!

Recently, there have been a number of articles published about Capital Prep in the news. Here are the headlines!

Street Law at Capital Preparatory Magnet School

Over the past two months the students of Capital Preparatory Magnet School were able to gain some valuable insight and experience through a joint effort of collaboration with the University of Connecticut law school.

The administration at Capital Preparatory Magnet School made it possible for a select group of University of Connecticut law students to enter our classrooms not only as prospective lawyers but as teachers.

Committed to Academic Promise (CAP POINTS)

HOME & SCHOOL

Capital Prep believes that when families, schools and community groups work together to support learning, students stay in school longer, attend school more regularly and perform better in school.

One way Capital Prep fosters this is through the C.A.P program. When you and your child participate in activities with the family outside of school, the family earns valuable points. With these points, you will have a chance to bid on exciting prizes at certain events at the school. This is a key component of our school-home connection.

Examples of ways to earn CAP Points:

Visit the local library – Attend the C-Prep Art Exhibit – Participate in Math Night – Attend a Football Game – Visit a Museum – Go Apple-Picking – Attend a Town Fair – Visit a State Park – Visit A Zoo – Attend A PTO Meeting (Parents/Guardians) – Attend a Board of Education Meeting – Volunteer in the Classroom (Parents/Guardians) – Attend in A Local Sports Event (Whale, UCONN) – Attend a Play – Attend a C-Prep Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country Event – Volunteer at a Soup Kitchen – Go to a Festival of Lights – Participate in a Walk/Run – Play in a Corn Maze – Go to A Trampoline Park – Participate in Town Sports (Baseball Gymnastics, Soccer, etc) – Take a Day Trip to Another State – Spend time family bowling -- Participate in Wadsworth Family Saturday events -- Visit the Science Center -- and much much more...
